Urban Outfitters Coat Rack

120407coatrack.jpg

If you're like us, when guests come over we silently cringe because we know we still haven't cleaned out the hall closet to accommodate coats!

We're tired of throwing things on our bed, it's too pretty to cover up. We love the idea of this coat rack which has a very classic shape with a very modern finish. It also comes in turquoise and yellow, though you'll have to go into the store for those, only the orange is sold online.

Can anyone attest to the (in)stability of this item? I love the look, but I worry about UO quality...

Hooray!
We had this hall tree when I was growing up--only in a stately dark stained wood. I love it. I wish I had room for it in my hallway.

In L.A., we slightly cringe if we dont have a place for our wintere guests to park their flip-flops and sunglasses ;)

Hope they're cheap, something disposable just like a fan in the summer

$68 - I love the classic lines of this piece. Both colors are on back order.

CB2 has a similar coat rack, Sprout in orange & silver, but it is a little more expensive...

We have this coat rack in white and love it. We live in Santa Monica/LA too and you DO need a light weight jacket practically year round for the cool nights.

But see, for heavy coats, its actually bad for them to be hung by the neck. It stresses the construction. I use the banister...

The quality is what you get for the price of $68. This UO coat rack is VERY lightweight so don't plan on loading it up with too many winter jackets. Also they are dip painted and not enamel so soon as you assemble it the paint chips off around the screw holes.

I checked out this one as well as the CB2 one--i was hoping the quality would be up to snuff. The UO model is incredibly flimsy...don't bother unless you're gonna use it as a sculpture. The CB2 is a little better but not by much. And mskk is correct about hanging by neck. One alternative is wall hooks with nice curved wooden coat hangers. Your guests will appreciate it.
