Name: Tori
Location: San Diego, CA
Type: 2 bedroom/rental
Why I use color: We use color on our walls and black and white in our furniture and bedding to create impact and give the space instant personality on a budget. Buying classics, like Panton chairs in white and then changing the walls when bored always creates a new mood without us going broke.

2 Good color tips:
1.Kick up your comfort zone just a little bit. Take the color you love and change it a notch, paint is easy to change.
2. White never goes out of style. When in doubt, buy white.
2 Good color resources:
1. We live near the ocean so light, natural colors are just an extension of the outdoors here.
2. I constantly tear pictures out of magazines when I'm drawn to something- then I go with my gut. If you like it, it really doesn't matter what someone else thinks!
Love the second bedroom. I especially like how the zebra pillow on the otherwise black and white bed coordinates the wall color.
Great!
that zebra pillow is hilarious! fantastic! where is it from? your dog are too cute. that look so confused. ha ha.
I absolutely love the colors of the walls, just beautiful. The green and pink accents in the first room look great and I like the idea of accenting with black and white in the second room instead of another color.
this is gorgeous. the first bedroom is so dreamy and lush looking. love the paint and chandeliers.
Love this - feels like ahome, not a rental. Feels like something I could "take away and do", you know?
That's a great green in the second room.
that zebra pillow is a sandor pillow, right?
I LOVE the bright white against the blue walls in the first picture - very cheerful and serene. And the subtle use of pattern is great, just a hint at the head of the bed. Very well done! Cute dogs, too.
I love the first bedroom. The color is so fresh and airy feeling. But in the first bedroom I find the black curtain rods very jarring. They're all right in the second bedroom, because of the black accents in other places of the room. But in the first room, they spoil the otherwise lovely effect.
Oh! I just saw the ghost chair! It's perfect in the first bedroom.
One word: gorgeous
Really liking that ghost chair next to that clear glass lamp. Where is that lamp from?
Yes, someone was right when they noted that the pillow is part of the Salvor Fauna collection he did of animals. It was part of the DWR kids line, too.
The lamp was a random Z Gallerie purchase a couple years back, and the ghost chair is actually the La Marie by Starck.
I agree that the black curtain rods look funny, but what you don't see is a vintage black stool (used as desk chair) and artwork that has black accents in the rest of the room.
Thanks for the comments, the doggies are wanna be celebs- they like their photos taken!
I really like both of these rooms, but especially the former. The blue nearly takes your face off, but the use of white and black against it quiets it and makes it lush and gorgeous. Kudos.
Also, how lucky are you to have a bay window in your bedroom? It's awesome.
fresh and delicious colors-- love the black and white accents! Looks like I could move right in and enjoy the beach.....
very artsy colors-- the contemporary mixed with the minimalist modern makes for both a fun and soothing dwelling-- kudos!! HOT HOT HOT!
Tori, I'm obsessed with everything in your house.. Especally the pooches:) xx~
Your taste is exquisite; always has beenÂ…
It is definitely nice and puppy friendly. It looks elegant and cozy.
my favourite colours and well executed!
(and I love the dogs)
Boho Country/cath kidston.
BEAUTIFUL!!! Love the colors....the place is amazing! Especially love the animals. :)
If you're still checking comments, Tori, can you tell me where you found the chandelier in the bottom picture?
TR, we found the chandelier at a garage sale in pieces for $20. It was our lighting project!
I love the black accents in the green room, but even with the promise of other black accents in the first, blue room, I hate that curtain rod. I think the style is even a little too traditional. Otherwise, it is probably the coziest bedroom ever. And yes, very beachy!
Good job! I love it!
Wow, beautiful bedroom! It's heavenly! Love the colors, accessaries, and the dogs! Good LUCK!
The green color in the second bedroom is exactly the color I've been considering painting my bedroom, and possibly my kitchen - thanks for posting that photo - I've decided to go for it.
