apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

#14 - Alecia's Aussie Abode

Name: Alecia
Location: Brisbane, Australia
Type: 2-bedroom apartment. Own.

Why I use colour: I use colour to individualise my space and put a grin on my face the minute I step through the door! Still a relatively new purchase, this apartment is my first foray into the property market and I have really enjoyed making it my own.

I love to experiment by adding splashes of contrasting colours through accessories, adornments and pieces of furniture, as I am yet to commit to a big change through paint colours. I work with textiles so am always inspired by prints and textures, and love to update my soft furnishings regularly.

2 Good colour tips:
1. Choose colours that make you happy!!

2. Treat your home furnishings like you would your clothing, add colour and personality with accessories that you can layer and change.

Favorite type and brand of paint: Resene Zylone Sheen

A little too cluttered for my taste - but just irrepressibly fun and happy. Love your art, the pillows, the red chest and the toy robot. Would prefer not to see so many little frames all over the place, but your place is darling and the colors very pleasing.

Nice punches of color against white. I think I may go this route in my next home.

I love your place! It's cozy and fun and looks like a real person lives here. It's designed well, but not overly designed like some of the other entries. And I love how you brought in color in other ways besides painting the walls. Gives those of us with white walls lots of inspiration.

awesome! The first pic is my favorite because you can really see the layered effect you were going for.

I really like this! The small red chest is such an accent! I love a neutral setting with bold accents!
