Why I use color: I'm an artist so I always think in terms of color and composition. In rooms, I use color as a mood lifter, and always have colorful objects around that I collect on my travels. I love architecture and design magazines--they're like porn for me.
The Yellow Front Porch
The Guest Bedroom
2 Good color tips:
1) Paint stores can mix colors from anything- I once brought a lime green pair of sneakers to my paint store, and they zapped it with a color reader tool, and mixed the color- I painted a small hallway with it.
2) Small, normally unconsidered areas are good candidates for fun colors and treatments that you wouldn't use for a whole room. Stripes on a laundry room wall make it more fun. Vintage wallpapers make good tackboards, or can be used in back of utility shelves or bookcases.

The Blue Porch
I love the laundry room shot and the giant squit pillow! Cute

I can't really get a sense of your place - all I can see are vignettes. Of course I understand how difficult photographing a place can be, keep practicing. Your vignettes are very skillfully done and you have some amazing art.
I am particularly intrigued by the piece in the last photo, that appears to be legos? Did you put legos in a Chinese character? Would love any information on this piece.
Thanks for sharing.

Lovely, but need more long shots of the rooms...nice colors, but I agree with peggy...hard to see what's going on here. Looks like you have a good color sense and lots of interesting artwork and furniture, just wish we could see more of it.

I agree. Vignettes are nice but they give no sense of what your home looks like. We're getting a small sense of a porch and a guest room. What about the living room, kitchen, bath and master bedroom?
I have to abstain from voting on this at all.

Tell us about that shelf in the laundry room...

Peggy, looks like the Legos are in the character Shuang Xi (Mandarin Chinese pronunciation = Double Happiness). This is pretty standard as a motif, you'll often see it in homes or Chinese restaurants.
I like the laundry room a lot...bold use of color that I think works better than the other rooms.

Nice but we need to see the real stuff. Walls, furniture etc. You shown us some awesome accesories though.

What we can see is fabulous! I love it. All your little touches are inspiring. I agree that I'd like to see more of the big pictures, but the details you're showing us are supercool.

The pink room scares me. All of the rest of your photos are well considered, if a little tight and detailed. I havent seen quite enough to give it more than an "in the running"

Something's off, way off here. There's color, but what's the story here?

What cool and original arrangements! I think you should win for your artful tableaus- they look like little paintings. I love the objects d'art. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to gather my little treasures and try to do something like that. Very nice use of colors. Keep it up.... :o)! PunkyB

love the objets, hate the guest bedroom
and curious to see the blue porch and other rooms where everything else is . . .

I feel like I would really love this space if I could see more of it or if the photos gave me a better idea of the "big picture." I am anxious to see more of this space but sadly, it seems like this would have been the perfect opportunity to show off more- and that the opportunity may not come again.
