2 Good color tips:
For painting: two layers of matte paint and you can't go wrong
pair colorful walls with white curtains or furniture to bright your room

Favorite type and brand of paint:
I like matte paint because you can't see mistakes. I like Behr but I'll use any brand if the color is right.

that white rug makes me cringe. not b/c it doesn't look nice, but it would kick my OCD into overdrive. i'd never rest.

Heres another entry that would have benefited from better photography. Best tip: turn the flash OFF - it flattens out space and washes out colors. Also - changing the compostion in some of the photos would have given us a better sense about how the bright orange and green works together and flows.

I wanted to paint my studio that color, but they all told me not to. I shouldn't have listened.

Love the paint colors on the walls. I too regret not painting my kitchen and bedroom the bright yellow I wanted to. I will someday.

Love the collection of crosses. The rest of the home is a bit disparate. I'd love to see you win a prize so you can update a little.
When using bold color, its important to make sure that the rooms have relationship to each other for flow. There is a bit of inconsistency here. I can tell, however, that you have a good eye.
I love bold color on the walls and all white furniture - so the living room is attempting to make a statement. But go with all white furniture, and paint that end table. Unless you are going the country route.
Like I said the cross collection is amazing, but looks rather incongruous to me. If you are going for modern, I believe these should be on a white wall.
You're off to a great start, I would just like to see it pulled together a little more cohesively.

Those wood frames above the secretary REALLY don't go. But then, there is a lot of mixing wood types here, and it just doesn't work. This place seems like they think it looks really good just because they painted the walls. It's a good first step, sure, but they need to work on how it's being decorated, too.

close cabinet doors, hang up jackets, and tuck away cords when taking photos that will be at the mercy of Apartment Therapy-ers. ;)

i think this shows that even if you can only afford thrift store furniture that you can still make a positive living space. i like the shelf made of drawers in the kitchen. this is motivating because it's not so completely designer...we can all decorate our apartments for not much money

i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your yellow wall of crosses. I've always wanted to do something like that. It's such an iconic and powerful image, and even more so when grouped together. beautiful!

I think replacing the rug in the living room would make a world of difference.
It looks like a paint drop cloth to me.
