I've Got Color! Contest: Tenika's Tropical Living

IMG_0562.jpg

Name: Tenika
Location: Puyallup, WA

Why I use color:

"I use color because it's life. It's warming. Soothing. I wanted something tropical for my room with all my plants."

Color Tips:

"Remember that color usually seems more intense on walls than it does on a sample card. When it doubt, go a shade or two lighter. Cheat and use the colors that you see in those paint books- It will have the exact company, name & number and you know what it looks like painted on!"

Nice color, but it seems incomplete. The pictures are way too small for the color of the walls. Larger artwork would tie the room together better.

I like it. I understand from my own entry (which will show up eventually, I think I was last in) that it can be a real disadvantage to have a small room, because it's really hard to photograph. I don't think she should be penalized for an awkward photo angle, which is what I think it is in that pic. The colors are nice and it is nicely done, not too in your face. I do want the piano and the blue accent colors to "pop" a little more, and I would put some painted moulding around the edges of those photo frames, so there was a little more weight to those frames.

i actually really like this one, too. you've done a great job of creating a tropical, key west kind of mood. and i have to say that the clock is pretty cool!

Inevitable question: What's the paint color? On my monitor, it's somewhere between Kraft paper brown and persimmon. I'm developing an overwhelming fondness for it, should I ever win the lottery and score a second bedroom.

I think the pictures probably aren't doing justice to this room. I *love* that clock, also the plants and the warm colour of the paint.242

Wow - Puyallup makes an entry on apartment therapy - you get points from me just for that!

Love the clock! I admit I was left wanting to see more of the room and the furniture in the disance on that last photo. Nice wall color.
