Sweet! Digging the terrarium...
I love that terrarium too. I have a "black thumb" but I'm thinking I could handle a garden of that size.
I really like that coffee table too. Was it a vintage find or is it new?
Thank you for the compliments! I just moved into the NoHo Lofts (thenoholofts.com) in North Hollywood from Orange County. My unit is a 750 sq foot room with one bath.
The Terradome Terrarium had a short run at DWR, and although it seemed to get a lot of press, I can't seem to find a place that carries it online.
The coffee table was purchased from Ikea 2 years ago, and sadly, it is no longer available in the white/walnut combination. Ill never figure out why they killed it off...
Amazing loft! I love the ""retro decoration""!!!
Check out my latest great home post! I think you will love it!
I remember when DWR was selling the Terradome for half off. oh the procrastination and the mistake of not getting it!
I really like it - I just want to see more! Love the coffee table - why, why did Ikea discontinue it?!
Love the space and the lack of stuff. It just looks cool (stylistically and thermally).
I'm so surprised that table is from IKEA. I live near one and go there about once a month and just don't remember seeing it. I wish I had seen it, it's just so nice and simple and works well with modern and minimalist stles.
MaSRade, did you paint your walls? I'm in a loft rental with concrete floors and high ceilings. I like keeping things pretty neutral and getting color from pillows and accent furniture. My walls are white and I no longer want white but don't want a colorful color. Your walls appear to be a warm greyish-beige that seems to be a nice backdrop for your white couch, bed linens, dining table top, etc. If you painted the walls yourself do you still have the paint color name?
Also, what bookshelf system are you using for storage and to separate your living space?
So glad to see a fellow terrarium Terradome owner (click my name link for my setup). My terrarium is still growing well, although our non-airconditioned home means I need to rewater/mist the plants at least every 2nd day (although if I cover the top hope, there's less loss of moisture). It's truly my favourite DWR purchase ever.
The walls of the unit are a beige color in the light, and have more of a grey appearance in the afternoon/evening. The unit came painted this color, and to be honest I didn't even realize it wasn't white until my girlfriend mentioned it.
The shelving unit in the background is Expedit from Ikea. It's not my favorite piece of furniture, but comparable units from DWR/Bludot etc seem to always be thousands of dollars.
Gregory, your terradome looks great. With as much as you mist the plants, do you have a problem with mold growing?
MaSRade: No problems with mold yet. I created a multi-level subsoil system of rocks, charcoal, soil, and moss to allow proper draining and prevent odour. And the room is fairly sunny and well ventilated, and the terrarium actually dries out quickly if I leave the bottom hole uncovered (thus the misting). Besides the misting, the only other thing I have to do regularly is trim the plants every few weeks...they've grown out and up quite a bit since setting it up :)
Where did your sofa come from?
The sofa is a vintage Overman Sofa redone in white vinyl. I purchased the sofa at Futures Collide in downtown Pomona; they did the upholstery job for me as well.
Hello Everyone.
We have people scouring google for proud owners of
the Terradome Terrarium by Designer Ric Lopez
and are handled by MODERNPAST.
They were offered by DWR as a "holiday gift idea" so there were only there for a season, when they had there markdown on it, there were only 10 or 15 left.
