The other day, Rebecca noted that she'd been seeing a lot of embroidered designs. We must've been on the same wavelength because just that morning, we'd stopped when we noticed this needlepointed work during our daily flickr surf (and we apologize for the poor quality of the photo)...
It also caught our attention because, unlike the expected pillows and cushions, this Flickr member had applied her skills to a lampshade. You can attempt to embroider directly on a lampshade (a slightly awkward proposition), or you can have a piece of embroidered fabric, whether found in an antique store or made by yourself or a friend or relative, turned into a lampshade at your local fine lamp store.

Pretty sure this is from Ikea, not made by the photographer, as noted here:

Wow, I agree with squiggle. The photo is even tagged "ikea." :-/

I might be mistaken, but I think that's a picture of the 'Alfhild Fagel' shade from Ikea, not something made by the person who posted the image on Flicker. If you follow the link to the Flicker page, one of the tags for the photo is 'Ikea'.

I'm sorry to pick nits, but as a needlecrafter I can't not point it out: The work on that lampshade is embroidery, not needlepoint. :)

So, just to try to rescue this post=-=where in LA is a "fine lamp store" that will make an object into a lamp? (Or a shade, not that I care very much about the shade, and boy, it's a cold day when faux folk art excites me.)
