We like a headboard; we think it anchors the bed and, thus, finishes off the room. Jonathan posted some alternative headboard ideas during Bedroom Month. In honour of our Curees, who are working on their bedrooms this week (Week 7 -- Yay!), here are some more inspirational photos, we found while surfing flickr, that can help you think outside the confines of a traditional headboard...
Steldy uses a screen in place of a traditional headboard
In these rooms at a very cool hostel, wallpaper draws your attention to the bed in a not-subtle-at-all manner
Here a window frame becomes a headboard
iampeas uses picket fencing as a headboard in her bedroom

You can live it up like the Hotel California in Santa Monica, where a surfboard headboard can have you living the surfer life in your dreams
Here a picture framed inspirational quote becomes a headboard with a positive message to face the day.
Close out the world with this door headboard which is backlit at night.
You may also want to try:
- A wide swath of paint
- Wallpaper, stenciling or another wall treatment
- Wooden slats nailed together. Lime them to give them that weathered look
- Hang a curtain rod and gather a length of curtain
- A gate. If it's long, turn it sideways
- Although some believe it’s bad feng shui to have mirrors in the bedroom, why not test your luck with this arrangement?
