We were moseying through Flickr this evening and found this inspiring Before-and-After kitchen shots from Chez Shoes' 400 sq ft bungalow in Highland Park. This shelving addition adds so much personality to the kitchen thanks to the colorful dishes and containers. After taking a look at some of the photos of this bungalow, we're hoping that Chez Shoes would let us do a house tour, or enter the Smallest Coolest contest. Take a closer look after the jump!

I love the red trim against the white walls and checkered floor.

This is why I am hooked on this site - such a simple but effective addition. When I compare this to the celebrity closets poll from yesterday - well there is no comparison. This one makes me smile and appreciate what one person can do simply.

Ooh, those shelves could be perfect in my kitchen! Do we know which IKEA shelves those are? I can't find them on ikea.com.

Sorry, but i don't get it--it's like a combination of a child's kitchen play set and a poor granny's kitchen. Ugh.

What did she/he do? The red wall, checkered floor, appliances... all were there in the "before" shot. All she/he added was a set of shelves and some rainbow mugs. If you like these things, give credit to the landlord.

Grace & all, thanks so much for the love! Sadly, I'm not there anymore - long story short, my landlady was facing foreclosure and I decided it was time to move on. I'm now in an even tinier studio apartment with no kitchen at all - maybe I'll have the chaos of moving sorted out in time for next year's Smallest Coolest.
As for olive88 - I'm afraid you *do* get it. Child's kitchen play set poor granny's kitchen = exactly my style.

Oh, and the shelf is from the Varde series at Ikea.

Where did you get the cute paper towel holder and spice rack above the stove?

The paper towel holder is from Target. The shelves over the stove were thrifted long ago - it's a metal shelf that I believe was originally intended for the bathroom.
