We've seen showers and baths in outdoor settings. But how about a toilet? Check out this bathroom that Flickr user Leslie Stowell
snapped while dining at a Bangkok restaurant. Hmm, an interesting idea...we've heard of dining al fresco, but doing your business outside is a new one. At least you know there's good ventilation!
Oh. My. Goodness.
Outdoor bathrooms are really common in Bali. I stayed in a bungalow in Ubud with an outdoor, but enclosed bathroom - the toilet, sink and shower were installed on a deck. It was beautiful. On the downside, I was eaten alive by mosquitos as I showered because the insect repellent would rinse off.
Now that I'm no longer speachless, I have to say that I kinda like it - the plants, the rocks - must be a breeze {snicker} to clean.
Lol. Sharon, I had a similar expereince, only they had this amazing tub I had to try...but the area was full of ants, which since it was night out, I didn't figure out until I was in the tub and they were trying not to drown by climbing all over me. Needless to say, I screamed like a little girl and freaked out and made them change rooms. I think that one had a salamader pr something noisy in the loft and I had to explain to the staff the next day in sign language I needed a ladder to get my shoe back. But the outdoor showers in that climate is simply heaven. I wanna go baaaaaack.
Hummm.... Sharon - are the mosquitos year round? Just something to keep in mind if I ever get to go there :-)
