apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Flickr Finds: Layering Furniture

082708_layer01.jpgWhen maximizing your space – big or small – it’s great to be creative and open to ideas. One perspective is the idea of layering furniture. Sometimes placing a piece of furniture in front of another piece simply works in the space.

We spotted Miluzeria’s bedside setup in the Apartment Therapy LA Flickr pool and really like how she placed a smaller stool in front of her floating bedside table. Aside from the extra tabletop space this provides her, we love how she used a contrasting color and how the furniture lines are not as wide or deep as the floating piece. Here are a few more ways to layer furniture. Mix it up and create a room that works for you.

Maybe we should show cases where this doesn't work too - like the folks who place TV's and sofas in front of fireplaces (working or not)
