Here's a pretty simple shelving system in Second Hotel, a design boutique in Seoul. After our initial reaction of, "Oohh, I hope no one stumbles against this wall...that would be baaad....," we tried to think of things that couldn't be displayed with this system...

The only thing that we came up with was artwork, although it could be adhered to the ends of some of the pegs. Some things that this wall of wooden pegs can hold: horizontal stacks of books, keys, coats, spools, etc. You could even lay a board across a few of the pegs and to display small photos and tchotchkes (and then promptly dismantle it if it looked terrible). This could be an ideal solution (on a much smaller scale!) in a home office or even an entryway.
I think that is a horrible, horrible thing. Way too dangerous.
It's fun until someone loses an eye!
That said, it could be useful higher up on the wall, at about "above the eyeball" height.

It does seem so, I don't know, hostile.

Pocket books and CDs would fall all the time. I could imagine how this would end up by annoying me....

I'm thinking anything flat and round (an LP, a large plate...) stumps the system.

Shelving system? No. Plinko game waiting to happen? Yes.

It is hurting my eyes.

I actually like it even though I agree you could hurt yourself. But with my small apartment and millions of purses this would be oh so helpful. Unless anybody can come up with that solution.
