Flickr Finds: The 10 Cent Designer's Gradual Photo Composition

031908_bluepictures.jpgIf you can look past the delicious blue sofa (it's hard for us!), you might notice the arrangement of the photos in the back wall. We're intrigued: sure, it reminds us of a Cingular commercial, but it does add some interest to the wall. What say you?

I'm sorry, I can't look past the sofa. Is there something in that picture besides the gorgeous sofa?

I freaking LOVE the sofa! The photo display looks nice too, I just wish we could see it up close.

everyone has their own taste in prints, definitely, but....booooring! if you're going to go all National Geographic at least have something as rich in content as that sexy sofa.

That sofa is in one of my favorite colors. My eyes NEVER get tire looking at it - and it goes really well with that khaki paint and red wood. With a couch that bold, something bold should be behind it. Maybe change the picture frames?

I have been looking for paint in that azure color to paint my wicker chairs. Any suggestions?

I painted my old bathroom that colour. My roommates hated it. Nuts to them!

The photos were the first thing that caught my eye in this photo. I really like the layout. Good job!

That arrangement isn't working for me. Reminds of how grandma used to arrange all the grandkids' school pictures going up the stairs. I have a feeling the photos are more powerful up close, though.

I only have eyes for the sofa

The arrangement of the artwork isn't quite working for me but I'm sure whatever the frames contain is lovely up close.
Love the sofa color, and it's a beautifully composed photo, but the wall color makes me wanna barf. Too pink. A good one for yesterday's thread on wall colors that shouldn't exist.

The arrangement of the photos is off-putting. (Thumbs down)

OMF G (enough with the f___ sofa)

I've always found the "stair arrangement" very "1-cent designer". It's like anything they place in that configuration looses it's meaning and turns into a "stairway to hell". It shows lack of imagination, and instead of looking organically asymmetric... it ends up poor and sad.

She has an amazing eye. I just spent a long time looking though her Flickr, I don't even think this is one of her best shots. I had never thought about hiring a designer until I saw her rooms (not that I can, but I would if I could!).

Just have to say YAY for having tencent on AT. She's amazing: her photos, her staging work. And she's just plain cool. She's cooler than that sofa, y'all.

I adore the sofa but I don't like the look of the frames composition at all.

It looks like it could be a shot in a David Lynch movie. My compliments!

I'd never have brought up the whole subject in the first place, because the picture arrangement does nothing to grab my attention, one way or the other.

Love the colors! Any ideas on what the wall paint color is? I would love this in my bedroom. Please help.

Amy@NYC, i painted my bathroom a similar colour; I used benjamin moore's "carribean blue water". It definitely inspires passionate opinions - i LOVE it, but i have a few friends who HATE it! (Apparently they're 'allowed to tell me that' because they love the rest of the place! ;-)

The frames and that mobile hanging from the ceiling look completely overwhelmed by the wall. I would prefer a big giant oil painting with some bright colors that contrast with that horrible wall color and maybe compliment the couch. Better yet, repaint the walls.
