Transform Your Furniture with Paint

atla-032608-dresser03.jpgIsn’t it great what a little paint can do? We found this dresser on Flickr. Even better when we saw the before…

atla-032608-dresser01.jpgOur own dresser, found on Craig's List, made the opposite move – from pale white to glossy black. What can you transform in your home with a few coats of paint and a little glitz from the hardware store?

The dog is a little scary looking. Maybe it's the paint fumes.

we used spray paint with stone texture on the ugliest shelf ever and now everyone LOVES it. Wish I could post a picture for you to see. And the best ppart is - it woke up the non-existent crafty part in my husband! -)

I've posted these before but this is how we saved our old entertainment center. Chalkboard paint.

Uhhh I'm not seeing any dog. But great job on the dresser! Is everyone agreeing that spray paint is the way to go when painting furniture?

I think spraypaint can be a gamble on furniture (or any large object with smooth surfaces). it certainly works.. but its best to do many light coats- or you risk drips, and depending on the sheen of the paint.. an uneven finish (glossy here.. not glossy there..) I favor a small paint-roller (the kind where the roller is a sponge with a smooth texture)

I recently found an AMAZING desk at a goodwill outlet. It might be teak.. which i hear is hard to refinish. I am currently attempting to sand and re-seal it.. but if the results suck, i'll just paint it. (just to brag about it.. the desk is a half-circle, and the back of the desk is bookshelfs. i might just re-sell it since my apartment is too small for it)
