As we transition to Fall ( Ithink it's cooling down) a reminder that September and October are the best months for planting in our Socal Desert Landscape. The weather is milder and the threat of any kind of freeze is still months away. For some inspiration, take a trip to the Theodore Paine Nursery in Sun Valley which specializes in propogating native california plants and flowers.
Not only are native plants easier to grow, for obvious reasons, but they're incredibly drought tolerant, keeping watering to a minimum. Plus a trip to Sun Valley will yield an idea of what LA was like before all the development. Theodore Paine does a great native plants tour usually a weekend in late April. One day in the pasadena area the other is more westside. great way to get ideas.
