Look: Chia Pet-style Backyard Planters

061908chiaheads01.jpgWe nearly spit out our water when we saw these hilarious planters posted by KatG on HGTV's RateMySpace site. The rest of her garden is also worth checking out, with baskets of succulents, large planters of tropical varieties and an enclosed pool cage. A great example of container-style gardening.

I'm in love. I think there should be surprises all over your house (and your person) that crack you up.

I bought one of these for my mom a few years ago from Smith and Hawken in Connecticut... not sure if they still sell them... they're great!

There are quite a few head planters, here's a bunch on one page:

Couple that weren't shown on the above page are on this site:

Scroll down here to view a couple of heads with interesting plants:

Uh, baby head planter:

And the perfect plant for that is, of course, the brain cacti:

No, my name is NOT Lector. Why is everyone looking at me and this baby head planter with brain cactus strangely?

oy vey - seeing the baby head planter sans flowers coming out of is kinda strange and off-putting
but once the beautiful foliage grows enough that would look really cute...i can see that with beautiful flowers on some tables for a garden baby shower party. very sweet

This reminds me of that tv commercial thats on tv right now where a girl finds unusual objects to plant stuff in. She ended up with bowling balls, mannequin heads, and a whole bunch of weird containers. I think it was some sort of ad for power tools...or maybe it was a credit card ad. Hmmmm.
