Robomow

atla-070808-robomow01.jpgThe lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Where a lush expansive finely manicured green lawn is a beautiful and inviting part of summer days and nights, a place to play croquet, have a picnic or just loll around. But keeping it mowed? Not so much. What if you could mow the lawn and read the paper at the same time or, even hit that barbeque down the street? We have seen the future and it is Robomow...

A Roomba for the lawn, it mows the grass quickly and evenly, while skirting around trees, rocks and other obstacles, before returning to its base station. Almost as importantly, it mulches the grass, eliminating the need for collecting and discarding clippings; the finely chopped trimmings decompose quickly, returning valuable nutrients to the soil, a kind of composting on the go. Environmentally sound, it uses no gas or oil, plus it's relatively quiet. Available through Amazon .

Wow, after using a push mower on my backyard for two hours yesterday, this looks very tempting.

At $1800 for this thing, laziness doesn't come cheap

My dad has one of these- ironically he's the greenskeeper at a golf course but can't stand mowing his own lawn. It works like a champ.

This would be great for my father in law whose hips no longer let him push a mower but still wishes he were out there mowing the lawn.

Wow.

All I could think about was the fun my overly-protective-of-the-yard dog would have chasing this around the yard.

If they were cheaper, I'd probably buy one!

This would be great. Unfortunately it seems to me you would have to have a pretty perfect lawn to use this. My yard full of roots would never work with this.

Looks like a great idea, but the number of negative comments on Amazon about the robot's performance would concern me.
