The Sunstick: A Stocking Stuffer for Black Thumb Gardeners

112108sunstick.jpgOur co-contributer Abby has admitted on numerous times that she's afflicted by what is commonly known as "black thumb", where any flora bestowed to her care gradually deteriorates until they shrivel away and return back to the soil from which it was born. We're thinking we might throw in a couple of these SunStick gardening aids before we sentence any additional plant or flower to a premature death sentence...

As anyone who has tended plants know, location and sun exposure is an important consideration in keeping plants healthy. One plant can do well in one corner, but another plant might find that exact location a poor spot. SunSticks, available in both indoor and outdoor version, measure the light intensity of your home with a colour changing action you match up to a chart to determine daytime sun exposure, giving you a reference for which plants should or should not be planted or positioned in that location. $7.99-$9.99 for a set of three.

I think I'll stick with letting the groundskeepers do their thing...

...and I'll stick to writing the checks and enjoying their work.

this is pretty cool. i'm notorious for killing plants (or half killing them and dropping them off at my mothers to revive them) so this might be helpful.

I have a bit of a black thumb, and I don't know how much these would help. Next time I get inspired to grow things, I might just stick to succulents.

Even succulents can be killed. They need sunlight.
