I think the total unpredictability of life makes it beautiful... you just never know what you're going to stumble upon, what's going to catch your eye, or how you're going to begin to appreciate the beauty in something that you didn't before, and therefore an interesting collection of things and experiences begin to gather in your home. You just never know.

What makes life beautiful in my home? Let's see...playing records on an old Fischer Price briefcase record player - it makes the music sound a bit scratchy and far away and alltogether wonderful. A black lab whose eyes are constantly saying, 'nothing you have to do is as important as snuggling me, so what do you say...let's spoon.' A collection of antique cameras and a/v equipment - each piece has such a stunning silhouette. Only having as much space and as many things as you have place to appreciate on any given day. Because it's not about how many toys you have when you die, but how you enjoy them when you are alive that really matters.

An early morning sunbeam through the window rests on the rug where I practice yoga, and that same light goes through my crystal ornaments and creates rainbows on the wall. Such bright warmth and color lifts my spirits and makes my home beautiful!

Life is beautiful in my home thanks to less junk, no TV, home cooking, and lovely family & friends who know they can do the drop by anytime.

Oh Oh oh I need these. They are in the very colors that I am using to make my tiny house look more coordinated. But the thing that makes my tiny house beautiful is that it is MINE, I can paint and fix and do what I can to make it more beautiful. (After decades of being a renter, and living in shared houses, I have my own home, with all the joys and headaches that entails...)

Life in my apartment is beautiful because of all the possibilities for the future. I just moved into my first real apartment on my own - it's oddly shaped and sparsely furnished (a bit like my life right now). But it's home, and I can't wait to grow with it.

Big question. One answer: the view from my windows, tea, and the cat. and my neighbors. and music.

Edit: additionally and strangely, the satisfaction that comes with being a homemaker, removing lint from the dryer included.

Scones and second hand furniture...everything is beautiful in your first apartment.

I never realized how beautiful my home was with my cat Madison until she got lost a couple days ago. She has been lost for 4 days. Please if you read this, say a prayer that I will catch her. I've been crying for days. I can't live without my baby. She is my best friend, and she has been lost for days without food or water. Please pray I will catch her!

Like so many others, my darling husband and adorable kitties are the foundation, but views of the garden and trees, music and much loved art and artifacts surrounding, the smell of good food/cooking all enhance the atmosphere/environment... My home is a sanctuary and a holistic spa of sorts. I have an infrared sauna, a rebounder, a colonic set-up, an inversion table, earthy furniture and accessories, and most importantly - my two loving kitties. I could use some more greens and blues in my home though, that's where the pillows come in!

My family and our shih tzu, Yoshi, make my life beautiful, also seeing the awesome fall colors outside the door, my small front patio which is filled with flowers and plants, my next-door neighbors (they're wonderful).....so many things!

Dropping whatever household chores we're doing to accept our 2-year-old's request to play a game of "run around the table," which is nothing more that chasing him in circles around the dining room as he giggles and squeals with the delight.

Feeling good about our simple life and passing it on to our kids is what makes our life good.

Its a rainy day here, and there are toys all over the house from my 18 month old, but to me, its beautiful as my family is here. Thanks!

My family makes life beautiful in my home. I also like my art collection.

What makes life beautiful in our home is there is always lots of laughter! I have 3 young children and my husband Hudson and we truly find laughter in all aspects of our life, even when things are going horribly wrong. We don't focus on the negative and when we make mistakes, we laugh at ourselves instead of getting angry and blaming others. We do spend most of our time at home when the kids are not at school and my husband is not working. We are homebodies and enjoy building memories and spending quality time as a family. We don't have a lot, but our home is bright, clean and cheerful and the accessories that I do have are quality items, that stand out and make a statement in each room. But when people visit we don't want them to feel they can't enjoy themselves so I keep it a minimalistic decor. I would love to add these two very bright cheerful pillows to our decor because they would blend in so nicely with our family room furniture!

I'm lucky to have lots of windows, so even on the grayest Seattle day my tiny apartment is filled with light (for a few hours!)

What makes life beautiful in my home is of course, the kids. It was so boring and lonely (the quiet I sometimes miss...) before them, I try to decorate my home with bright things they will remember-like these pillows right here!!!

Being able to appreciate not only fine art but whimsical art like these pillows makes me one happy camper. :)

My kids and my cats! I love going into my kids room at night while they are sleeping and seeing them so peaceful curled up with which ever cats have decided to sleep with them. It makes all the insanity of the day worth it! Thanks for the contest!

The two roommates who are the closest I can call as "family", since my biological family members are all overseas.

My boyfriend helped me to remodel our front porch turning it into a place for me and the cat to relax. In return I helped him transform a space in the basement into a computer workspace & gaming room. These places that we both can go to sit and relax makes our lives beautiful.
