Devil Went Down to...Maker's Mark Decanter Set

For a Southern girl like me, this decanter (and matching shot glasses) from Maker's Mark could be The Greatest Gift Ever. As much as I love LA, there are certain things that just don't taste the same. And I don't mean fried chicken. I mean the indescribably AMAZING deep South comfort food like Jimmy Dean sausages in white milk gravy (it's good, and it'll pack seven pounds on you from the first bite), or chocolate pecan pie with homemade vanilla ice cream. Or? Friggin' bread pudding with caramel laced with bourbon!

You can get this (along with pretty much anything wearable, smokeable, and golf-able) at the Maker's Mark gift shop. The glass set that I received was dipped in this distillery's signature red wax, but non-waxed barware is also available (but what's the fun in THAT?) So before the hot weather leaves us: Tap into your inner Southern side, get some whiskey, make a batch of mint juleps, and throw a little Allman Brothers on the record player.

Oh this makes me want to visit the refinery. It's 30 miles from my house, on the way to my mother's. What a family get-together that could be! Hmm...

I notice their crystal decanter is leaded crystal. That's bad if you plan on storing your bourbon in it for very long. If you rip through a 750ml quickly I guess you'd be ok.

I prefer Ravenscroft lead free crystal spirit decanters.

Worried about the lead in the glass leaching out and
the wax is hard on your arteries too. Yep you need a loooong sip of MM!
