We noticed during our most recent trip to Target a plethora of seaside and seashell inspired home and decorative items. The coast is never out of style, but it certainly is "in" style now. Both ATNY and AT Chicago have posted about Kim Westad's beautiful ceramics before, but we had not seen these sea urchin, coral and shell inspired ocean forms until now...
We especially love her "Sweet Pea" design: "Super cute hand-thrown porcelain vessel with a pebble inspired surface design in white. The pebble design is comprised of individually applied slip dots that are slightly raised above the surface. This gives the exterior a nice, tactile quality.
The exterior of the vessel is unglazed and the interior is coated in a soft orange color. This little guy would make a nice addition to any display and pairs easily with other pieces- especially other sweet peas!"
These are even glazed water tight and the bottom has been carefully coated not to scratch furniture. We're also in awe that Kim made these coral pendants by hand...on first glance we were sure she'd just repurposed a real piece of coral. Lovely.
Be sure to check all of Kim's other beautiful work at her Etsy shop.
My boyfriend bought me one of the sweet pea vases with a green inside off Etsy for my birthday last summer. I love it. It's beautiful and well-made and makes me happy every time I look at it.

I have the one on the top right!
I saw it online on Etsy and then she was at a Bust Magazine craftacular. I was so excited to see her stuff there I was like a groupie. :)
It really is lovely in person, too. Smaller than you'd think, but really well done.
