Called mazagrams in France, after the drink that's served in them -- cold coffee with seltzer, a traditional remedy for a hangover -- this version is made by one of our favorite manufacturers of sturdy and versatile white dinner and bakeware, Pillivuyt, a French company that's been around since 1818. We could find a dozen uses for this shape in our house: as vases, corraling a line of small low bouquets down the centre of our dining table; to hold our make-up brushes in the bathroom; to keep our pens and pencils at the ready; cradling small squat candles or votives; holding change on our landing strip.
