Nigella Appetizer Bowls for Jewelry

030408_nigella.jpgMost of our jewelry is stored away in mismatched little boxes in a drawer underneath the sink. The result is that we only end up wearing the couple of things that are displayed in little bowls that sit on the counter. We'd like to see more of it but too many bowls on the counter and it gets cluttered. But here's our solution:

So we stuck with the theme of little bowls but thought we'd update by having them match. When we saw appetizer bowls from Nigella Lawson we were sold. They'll sit on their own plate so if there's a spill, it's contained (and not down the sink), ithey're pretty, and they don't feel cluttered because they're part of a set. Buy the set of appetizer bowls (and the whole line of Nigella's kitchenware) on Bliss USA

Oh, I've been doing something similar for ages and ages. I got a tea tray, and arranged a handful of antique plates and egg cups and wine glasses on it for the top of my dresser. It's perfect for arranging all of my things -- one holds my hair elastics, another holds bracelets and cuffs. Tall egg cups and low crystal goblets are the perfect thing to dangle my earrings off. It's a pretty (and pretty) genius arrangement.

Cute! I've been putting my jewelry on an assortment of little plates too, but I find that it takes up a lot of surface area on my dresser. I'm going to try using a tree branch in a vase for my necklaces (they get tangled so easily) and then use just one or two plates for bracelets and pins.

spaceagemouse - the tree branch in a vase - what a great idea! there was a post on here last week (i think) about someone who repurposed a branch, but installed it on the wall. for the life of me i can't figure out how it's attached to the wall. i think i like your idea better anyway! i currently have 4 chinese bowls that i store my jewelry, and one of those branch jewelry holders from ikea that i'm not too crazy about.

Yeah, the branch and vase idea is great. It is so simple it makes me wonder why I couldn't think of that solution. Oh well, now I get to take advantage of it anyway, thanks!

i like this bowl set - i'd get two and use them for jewelry and for appetizers. last month at home goods, i found a chucky dark brown three section wooden bowl (looks like a mickey mouse head, yet not) and keep my jewelry in them, but now i'm running out of room.

I use a bowl on my dresser - it looks good but I am not that happy with the functionality. I find the contents gets dusty, and its hard to get rid of the dust.

I am an antique junkie. I use old glass snack trays. They have built in dividers. I also use other little glass bowls and ashtrays. For rings I have old glass ketchup bottle stops turned upside down. Oh and I also have and old glass eye wash cup that I keep my studs in.

i found these great glass "hands" on ebay (you can find them all over, but that's where i got mine) and they are so functional for holding rings, bracelets, and necklaces, and i think they look really kind of retro and funky. since i found them i am wearing so much more of my jewelry than i used to, just b/c i can see it!

just google "hand jewelry holder." or something.

Liking all of these ideas a lot. I've got my necklaces and bracelets hanging from decorative key hooks on the wall, which works really well, but bowls and cups and such would be good for rings and larger pieces. Off to the kitchen to see what I can find!
