Good Questions: Shelving Solution?
Los Angeles

032309atlagoodquest_b.jpgDear AT, I found this image on Flickr and have been trying to find out which shelves the person used to organize their collection, but so far my inquiries have gone unanswered. I was hoping maybe someone else would recognize what they are and where to get them. Any help guys? -Stephanie

Got a good question you'd like answered? Send your queries and a photo or two illustrating your question, and we'll see if the ATLA team or our readers can help you out.

Stephanie, we contacted Liem, the owner and organizer of that impressive display of collectible vinyl figures and he informed us that the black shelves are from Ikea for "10 bucks a pop" and were flipped upside down to improve visibility of his toys' full figure (they look like the IKEA STRIPA wall shelf in black). Now to get Liem to agree to share more about his vast toy display for our series of home collections.

yes those shelves work great~ use them on movie sets and such--you can also get the LACK shelves which to me personally are better-they are a thicker shelf and has no lip on the back side.

Ha, this is especially amusing because I'm trying to figure out where to put our ever-growing collection of the same toys. :D I had them set up along the extra-wide windowsills around our apartment, but my husband was worried they would get too much sun.

I think they are Stripa wall shelves from IKEA turned upside down and painted black.

RIBBA wins, since the price matches alongside the finish. Nice one, eriiikaa.

Apartment Therapy to the rescue!

This is great, more stuff to pick up at IKEA for redecorating my room when we move. :D

I plan to be doing the exact same thing with my collection of Mighty Muggs (I only have 4 so far).

Thanks!

They are definitely ribba picture shelves hung upsidedown, I recognise them because I have exactly the same ones hung exactly the same way. It hasn't been mentioned here but the great strength of these shelves is that they are only about 10cm (4 inches) deeep, so they take up very little space. I have two in a row in my very narrow hallway, they make a perfect above-the-radiator shelf. Because you look down on them you don't see the "lip", they just look like thick shelves. The only downside is finding things less than 10cm in width/lengthdiameter to put on them - although obviously for collections like this that's not a problem.

OMG. I am emailing this to my husband. his toys get on my nerves and we need to come up with something to get them organized and displayed in a civil manner.

Yeah, except Munny's cost about four times what these do.

I'd like to know what these toys are? I'm seeing them a lot now and they are cute. What are they called?
