Good Questions: Where To Find Plastic Coated (But Stiff) Placemats?

Okay, here's the challenge, because my mom and I have both been searching for forever: she loves placemats for the old wood dining table, but not just any placemat. We're looking for ones that are stiff (but not heavy wood) and plastic-coated so you can easily wipe them down between meals. Crate & Barrel will occasionally have some for summer, but she wants them for year-round use (without them being a cheesy 90s-era flower pattern). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Got a good question you'd like answered? Send your queries and a photo or two illustrating your question, and we'll see if the Apartment Therapy LA team or our readers can help answer your question.

Here are our top eight placemats. They all guarantee to be wipeable between meals and we're almost positive they're all stiff (but not heavy). Some websites gave very good descriptions and some--not so much.

Not sure if these are what you had in mind, but these are the ones we have and when you eat with a toddler, easy (or at least easier) clean up is wonderful.

I'm looking for the same thing and have been eyeing these for a while: http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=238&f=4387

Not sure if it's your style but they look great in person, eco friendly, could be a conversation starter...

My nana has a collection of the cork back rectangular ones, which I always find super practical. Orla Kiely's target line had some, as did Mackenzie-Childs, Williams Sonoma, spode blue,
Personally I kind of love these, "fox" hunting.

Madison Ave actually has quite a few different hard styles including plainish, but not really modern.
