Good Question: Flex Sofa from CB2?
Los Angeles

082808_cb2.jpgHas anyone purchased and loved or hated the Flex Sofa from CB2? We're looking for a sofa/bed for a smallish guest room/office combo and hope to spend under $1000. I tend to not trust the comfort level of pullout mattress types of sleepers, and was wondering if this might be a good alternative. No CB2's in the area as of now, so we can't test it out in person. Thanks!

We don't have any experience with cb2's flex sofa but we're preparing a review of Bo Concept's Spaze Sofa Bed that we recently test drove and had a great experience with.

Anyone have a flex? Can you vouch for it?

i would check out room & board's encore:

i like how it has a split fold seat. it's fairly firm as a sofa, which may be good when used as a bed. you can also check this one out in their showroom.

@rpkoon. Did you think the Encore was comfortable for seating/snuggling too?

I'm thinking about getting this one too. It comes in a grey tone too. And the fabric felt dirt-repelling :)
The original one we wanted was the Nomade Express from Ligne Roset (from $2580), then switched to Innovation Furniture's Splitback sofa.

Available in SF through Echo Furniture in Noe Valley.

But this CB2-one is cheap!

Aaaargh. Decisionmaking sucks.

Sat on it today, it was the firmest sofa in there..I'd say it felt like a futon sofa.

I second the room and board encore sofa. It's really quite comfortable. We were considering this for a while and in the end went for something less modern, but I think it's a great flexible option.

I recommend the one made by Innovation. Their products are solid and If you find the right store you could get it relatively cheap as opposed to the CB2 one, where you would pay 999.00 shipping tax ~ 1,100 bucks.
For instance, the Innovation Splitback costs about 750 bucks tax (in Los angles), it's about the same (a little narrower) but has a much lower price.

the r&b encore is $799, and is very well made.

quiltmaster, it's firm for seating, not a sofa you want to plop down hard on. the nice thing is that the back is adjustable for various levels of rake, making it comfortable for different tastes. so what it loses in 'give', it makes up for in adjustability.

I second the Innovation Splitback - we got this one in black faux leather for my boyfriend's living room, and it's great. Each half of the back has three different positions, and they are all comfortable (it's fine to sleep on, too). I think it comes in a bunch of colors.

I´ve been shopping for a sofa bed and those models have just kind of worried me that they´re not for adults. Tall adults with bellies. Parents. 2 of them. And not for stays over one week (let alone a month).
For that reason I keep going back to the Manstad from IKEA. Believe me I am too tired of beige sofas from IKEA (im Scandinavian), but friends recommend it, I have slept on one numerously and the storage is kick ass. The final reward is the lounge haven of pulling it out for a movie marathon. The armrest makes it more loungable than the CB2 and R&B ones.

i picked up the versa from boconcept a few months back and am loving it. because of the split cushions and tufting it doesn't look too much like a sleeper. and though it is on the firm side it is a perfect excuse for excessive throw pillows.

I have the one made by Ligne Roset and love it. But I have to admit that it is much firmer than any other sofa bed or sofa I have used. Not that it is a problem, but it is something to be aware of if this one is similar.
