Good Question: What to put at the foot of the bed?

Hello AT,

Here's a small, 25" wide section of my apartment I don't know what to do with. It's at the foot of my bed and the blankness is kind of ugly. I wanted to put in a deco floor radio but the one I found was a few inches too big. I would like to add a large radio or something similar in shape but am open to ideas.

We love the idea of a deco radio and saw this one on ebay this morning. We also understand your space constrictions. We like the idea of a console table instead (might be more useful) or would you consider a bench at the end of the bed? Domino has some great references for benches here.

What do you guys think? 25" isn't much room to work with but this is a small space blog, so let's hear your suggestions.

i recently read Absolutely Beautiful Things' post on "gypsy tables" and now i want one...they're small, maybe thats an option? dont know if it'll fit in w/your decor though..

but first things first...invest in a mattress cover! :)

how about a piece of art, even a piece of framed wallpaper -- there was one in domino, i forget the brand, that's a black feather on a white background -- that would be visually interesting there.

I would get an antiquey ladder, or even a leaning ladder/shelf that would fit in there nicely-I think height is important there but keeping it narrow-and the shelves can be used to showcase some 'objects'
the ladder could be used for temporary clothes storage, even neckties/jewellery

I'm having a hard time visualizing this space...it looks pretty small and cramped for anything. Maybe once your clothes get put away and your bed is nicely made it won't feel like you are lacking something.

No, it's a knife resistant vest I wear for work

ps all my bedding was in the laundry when i took the picture, it's never usually that messy ):
