Hello AT,
I was watching Californication last night and noticed the lights in the attached screen shot. Does anyone know who designed/makes/sells them?

Well Michael, this might not answer your question directly, but like a scavenger hunt, might point the way. Fellow AT:LA Editor, Richelle pointed out this link to today's curbed posting about the Ray Kappe-designed "Benton House" in Brentwood that was featured in the last episode of Californication. So we've got the house, who's got the lamp?
oooh very pretty. I love it!

This looks like a cocoon lamp - which is a fiberglass-y material sprayed over a wire armature. DOn't know about this particular model, but castiglioni and tobia scarpa both made other versions of it. Castiglioni's viscontea is probably the most well-known..I did see a large hanging version similar to this one on Ebay once but they're pretty rare.

Firstly, thanks for all of these quick responses (I am Michael the question asker...). I'm going to keep sniffing around for these exact lamps - I'll report back if I find the answer.
Secondly, Laure thanks for the tip on the post at Curbed but the Kappe house shown is not the house that contained the cool lamps. I know this because I submitted the screen shots and post to Curbed!
Sometimes when I'm watching TV I get into a screenshot frenzy ;-)
In any case the Kappe house and the lamps are both cool.
