Good Question: Where to find a rug in San Diego?

11_06tonishaquestion2.jpg Hello AT,

Where can I find a blue-green, cream, and brown rug in San Diego?

I really wanted a blue-green theme for my living room. I rent, so I can't paint the walls and I figured my best option was to get a rug and accessories. I've seen a ton of blue-green accessories but the only blue-green rug I've found is the (plain looking) Hellum by ikea. Any ideas? Or should I just settle for the ikea rug? -Tonisha

Hi Tonisha,

We understand the frustration of trying to add color to a room when you aren't allowed to paint. The colors you're going for would look nice but wanted to add one word of warning about the rug on top of the exsisting carpet...be sure to buy the advised pad from the store you end up going with so that the color doesn't bleed through and you lose your security deposit.

If you're on a budget I would start watching Craig's List posting for San Diego [A key word to watch Angela Adams who does beautiful modern rugs].

Anyone else have a tip for our San Diego reader?

What about those FLOR carpet tiles? Do they have a product designed to be used on top of existing carpet? I thought I read something about such a product online recently.

have you checked out my own space in la jolla, mixture in little italy, or hold it in mission valley? there's also the expo design center off of convoy.

if you can't find the perfect color combo how about making your own rug with flor tiles?

hth!

have you tried overstock? i don't know your decor or style or what size you're looking for but here are some rugs that i found in a cursory look.

Nevermind. Checked the FLOR site, and they've got nothing you can place over carpet.

Have you checked Target, by the way? I was there last week, and was surprised by how good a few of the items they're selling looked. Don't know if the quality is great, but the prices sure were. The only problem is, I don't recall seeing anything blue-green.

Hello!
Thanks for your help! I checked target (no blue-green rugs), holdit (one cute rug -but not blue-green), overstock, amazon, and ebay (no contemporary blue-green rugs). I also checked MOS online. They have cute contemporary rugs but a weee bit expensive, so I decided not to go there in person. There's also another place in little italy (might have been Boomerang for modern) that has FLOR as well as FLOR type rugs that stick to each other instead of being glued to the floor. I was about to go with these, but they looked like my office flooring...
I ended up finding Essence of Style (8400 Miramar Rd Ste 160, San Diego CA 92126 (858) 549-2300). They have Signature rugs where you get to pick a pattern and then pick the colors you want. Check out http://www.signaturerugs.com/color/. I don't know what the quality will be like but I hope it works out!

You must work for this company.
I went to this site and it's one of those "consult a sales rep" kinda deals.

I really don't want to "consult a rep" for a simple rug. Not lookin' for an "investment" just a nice lil rug for my apartment :)

That Ikea rug is a gorgeous colour. I'd settle for it!! But I can't find it on the website, and my local Ikea doesn't seem to have it. Anyone know how I can track one down?
