Good Questions: Affordable Modern Chaise Loungers?
Los Angeles

033109atlagoodquest2-01.jpgWhile searching around for MCM chaise/lounges, I noticed many are upholstered fabric chairs with an ottoman. I ended up falling in love with two that didn't didn't necessarily fit that mold -- the Unico and the Le Corbusier chaise -- however, I had a hard time finding any others. Any recommendations for alternatives to purchasing either? I'm trying to spend less than $700. Best, Jim

033109atlagoodquest2-02.jpgJim, from your two samples, we came up with three options in similar style and within the price range you listed. The first is Modloft Modern Furniture Spruce Curved Wood/Leather Modern Chaise Lounger; one left at $575 makes this a great deal.

033109atlagoodquest2-03.jpgThere's also this white leather chaise available for $450 (but the shipping over the West Coast is notably high).

033109atlagoodquest2-04.jpgDFR LOUNGE's Snake Lounge is about $100 over, but definitely has a MCM vibe at a reasonable price.

Anyone else out there able to give Jim some leads that match the Unico/Le Corbusier aesthetic and falls within his budget?

The "Le Corbusier" inspired one can be found at Eurway for $849 they are having a 20% off sale right now so you could get it for $680. Hope that helps!

You can find it cheaper than that on craigslist.

We have the Corbusier in our Library. That thing is comfortable! Not sure of the craftsmanship of the Overstock, etc. models.

Not to be overly pretentious (okay just a bit), but it's "chaise longue" not "chaise lounge." It means "long chair" in french.

Thank you Miriam for pointing out the linguistic issue - "Chaise Lounge" has long been a pet peeve of mine.

I like the Modloft chaise - EQ3 also has a pretty nice option, worth looking into.

I think the idea of having a chaise in your home or at your backyard seems so fun and dreamy. I saw a couple of good samples of chaises at Ballard Designs.
