Good Questions: Affordable Versions of This Bed?
Los Angeles

100808_gqbed.jpgI love this bed frame for your Sanford Burrows competition and found it at Room Service. Perhaps your reader might know where I can get it or something similar for a better price?

Thank you!
Marcus

Agreed - your cheapest alternative is probably the Malm. I had one for years, and it never let me down!

most def the malm. i have the birch color with the attachable side talbes and love it. you can find them on craigslist pretty often too, at a big savings. i bought mine in three seperate pieces over the course of a month totally $150.

Yes the Malm looks like it but remember, you get what you pay for. Our Queen sized Malm in Birch did the trick until we moved, and then moved again and again and again. It is 3 1/2 years old and no matter how much I tighten everything it squeaks and creaks with the slightest movements. Let alone when you are doing anything more aerobic... If you are intending to stay put it could be what you are looking for. My wife and I are saving for a solid wood bed made by IZM. It will pay off with longer cardio workouts.

i can't believe no one's mentioned ikea's malm yet.

(yep, that's what i was thinking -- malm.. we have one in the guest room and it doesn't get much use... and hopefully nothing aerobic)

I pretty much hate the MALM bed, and most IKEA stuff in general. It's incredibly poorly made from incredibly cheap materials that don't stand up over time or moves, as Northern Dad mentioned. Ours also squeaks and cracks in a pretty annoying fashion with everyday use.

I have moved my Ikea Hoppen bed 3 times- disassembled and reassembled, and have not had any issues. A few squeaks, but nothing worth boycotting Ikea over. I'm off to purchase a malm for our master bedroom later this week. I love Ikea.
