AT Los Angeles reader Barbara writes in with this query with the hopes someone can identify and source these chairs that caught her eyes:
Hi AT, i need to find some chairs similar to the picture. I'm looking for stores in Los Angeles that carry these chair or chairs in similar style!

Those are 60's/70's vintage - nobody makes new chairs like those anymore...
...and when they were new they were most often made from pecan wood and finished in a medium/yellow wood tone - not painted white.
You're going to need to hit Craigslist, eBay, the fleamarkets, etc and find ones that can be painted and reupholstered - or hit the vintage furniture stores and be prepared to pay through the nose for some that have been rescued and refinished.

I would try Bobby Trendy's shop on La Cienega.

It looks like those chairs are from http://piecesinc.com/, a store located in Atlanta. For that high gloss look, you want to have the chairs lacquered not painted. Look for refinishing in the phone book and ask if they also lacquer. I am not positive but I think the fabric might be from http://www.sunbrella.com/ in a lime green color.
For stores in LA you may want to try:
http://lacasavictoria.com/
http://kohlmanquinn.com/
http://www.wandrdesign.com/
http://www.aliewaldman.com/alie/main.asp
And of course there is always http://www.1stdibs.com/.
(if you wanna pay the big bucks.)
Craigs and ebay is always a great place to look for vintage chairs.
Good luck!
Vanessa
(And by the way Bobby Trendy has since closed his store on La Cienega.)
