Dayna writes in with the hopes of someone helping identify these vintage 1950's-era boomerang leg chairs:
My husband picked up two of these chairs at the Goodwill a couple of months ago. They came with some bright red vinyl cushions that we switched out temporarily with a Target cushion for the bottom and a stuffed pillow cover for the back. We will have them reupholstered eventually. I was wondering if you all knew what kind of chairs they were? They looked Scandinavian in design, and I looked all around to find a label to see if they were from a particular designer and found nothing. We love them and I was just curious. -Dayna
Here's one additional image to help identify these unusually shaped chairs.

hi dayna (and all @ apartmenttherapy) - sounds crazy, but we're pretty sure we know your chairs. we have an identical one at home - it's a TV chair made by FLER (designer Fred Lowen), an Australian company who were heavily influenced by Danish and Scandinavian design. it would have been manufactured in Melbourne in the early 50's - how it found it's way to your side of the world, not sure but what an adventure. we're big fans and collectors of Fler, they're starting to gain a bit of recognition locally and worldwide as mid-century gains attention. if you're interested in more info, feel free to email us ... and enjoy your chairs!

Those are wicked chairs. I'd love to see what they look like with the red vinyl. But seriously... cool.
