Elisabeth asks:
I'm trying to find a stylish shower curtain for my stall sized shower...I've found plenty with fun patterns and colors for full size showers (like those from PlushLiving), but nothing for those of us stuck with a shower you are discouraged from trying to turn around in. Any ideas?
Hi Elisabeth,
We contacted PlushLiving and asked them if they offered their designs in stall sizes. Unfortunately, they only come in the full size. We think however, if you really love the design, since the fabrics they use are not vinyl, you might be able to simply hem it shorter (if you're handy with a sewing machine) or take it to a tailer to try to hem it for you. Does anyone have any other ideas or sources to for Elisabeth?
I don't know if this would work, but what if you fold a regular sized shower curtain in half and then put the curtain rings through both holes. If the regular shower curtain has 12 holes the first and last holes would line up when you fold it and the other holes should then fall in line. If it were a dark shower curtain like the brown one pictured above, you wouldn't see the other side of the fabric coming through from either side, but inside the shower you would get to see the pattern again instead of just the reverse side of the fabric.
Ikea or Urban Outfitters have cool vinyl showercurtains that you can simply cut to shape (I did this all the time at my old apt.)
thanks for the ideas! i would never have thought to fold over a fullsize curtain, and just using a pretty liner would let in more light..
e. :)
You could also get a curtain panel (they're smaller than a shower curtain) and use liquid stitch to hem the bottom to size.
Target offers stall sized liners. I was very excited, as I have a stall shower myself. I don't have the heart to reno it, as I love the lavender and maroon retro original tile.
You can buy a Tord Boontje curtain (white maybe, plastic) and add a white or clear liner and hang it using clip hooks. Just an idea - oh and cut the liner to size.
You can also try a twin size sheet, too. Just make sure you add a liner!
In my last apartment, I had only a shower stall in the bathroom. I did finally figure out to fold the curtain in half, but hated how one side showed the seams, and one side showed the fold. I took the curtain down and refolded each side to meet in the center (a flat u-shape) and then rehung the curtain. From the outside, you could only see the folded edges. On the inside, I did have a liner, and it was folded the same way. I put the open seams back to back, and unless I told you it was folded, you would have never known.
