Anyone know of a good framer or a place to get oversized frames? After getting a quote to frame a 3 ft square print, we started running to find alternatives. Ikea has good options, but hard-to-fit sizes. We've checked online and found some pretty good places (Franken Frames, for example), but we'd rather find someone local who can do a great job.

Frames By You in Thousand Oaks--you can do the labor yourself with their help, or pay them to do it. They've been there for YEARS and we've used them since 1982.

A lot of artists use The Framing House Design out in Chinatown. They do good work, and it's not too expensive. They sometimes get backed up, so getting your framed art back might take a while.

i had some trouble framing oddly-sized prints on the cheap...mine certainly weren't that large, but here's a really creative way to frame and mat prints that dont fit perfectly into store-bought frames:

(its an old post, sorry the photos are kinda poor quality)

Greatest, cheapest framer is Brian of BN Framed in Santa Monica (3006 Santa Monica Blvd). He's sometimes a little curt but his work is really great and inexpensive. (310) 453-2666

Cheap is good, however if you want quality, and something extraordinary, I would recommend "MEMENTO" on Pico Blvd between 20th & 21st in Santa Monica. They are not the most expensive, but they do fabulous work, and not what you will find everywhere else. They also do archival quality stuff.

Get cheap frame from ikea that the print will fit inside, then just go to a framer and get them to cut matting to fit the frame and print. You may have a larger border of matting on the sides or top/bottom but no one notices it. Most framers will cut matting to size for $15-20 and will charge a little more to place matting and print in the frame for you.
