Hello AT,
Have you ever shopped at EQ3?
I first saw this store in Charlotte, NC, but apparently there's one that has opened up recently in Burbank. I just was wondering if anyone has any opinions about the quality. The website has some really nice items but there are no prices listed and you cannot purchase online. Any opinions or experiences?
Thanks, Jennifer
Link To All Good Questions

I have been to the one in New York, Some of the things seem to be of good quality and some of the things look a bit cheap in person.
the leather rocking chair was nice but rather low to the ground.
I believe there is also one in Torrence, CA.
I hope this helps at least a little.

Prices comparable to West Elm, BoConcept, and C+B's ready-to-assemble line, more but slightly more expensive. Quality is comparable to other lines in a similar price range. (I've noticed that the "lacquered" pieces are finished slightly better than the veneered pieces.) I've purchased (and returned) several items since they've opened up shop in Burbank--including an Arc lamp knock-off. Customer service is just okay (the kids working the showroom don't seem to know the lines very well and are a little lackadaisical); but very generous return policy. Furniture ships unassembled; but each showroom will assemble for an additional charge. Larger items are not stocked and have 3 to 4-week delivery window. They have a limited (but very nice) selection of modern-looking accessories. Definitely worth checking out and judging for yourself.
I was wondering the same thing myself, and headed out to the store on the upper west side here in NY. Maybe its the location or how long each piece had been there.. but almost everything in the store was midly to severly damaged, including the bed I was looking to get. A few parts of the bed were missing and all of the laquered parts on all of the items in the store were scratched pretty badly. I asked if their items are known to scratch easily and the response was that they are only thinly coated with no undercoat and that they suggest being careful with their products. Thats not a very ringing endorsement if you ask me.
The prices were average and the design was better on the web than in person. I would put it a slight step above ikea in orginality, but the store APT has almost the exact same look and designs that I found to be of MUCH better quality, albeit at a higher price. Look at the APT website to see the similarities. Ill link it to my name.. ok bye
I bought an EQ3 cocktail table in espresso and a relay corner desk in red a year or two ago. The lacquer on the table has dulled a bit and scratches easily, though the dullness may be related to my polishing techniques. The table still looks good despite the scratches and the desk is holding up well. My expectations weren't particularly high, as the items were pretty cheap. I got them from http://undertheroof.com/
Matt, the furniture on APT is great. Had never come across it before.
I live down the block from the one on the Upper West Side, so I've been in there numerous times, looking around. By the time it opened, I had pretty much established the DNA of my apartment's vibe and bought most everything I needed, so I haven't actually gotten anything there.
But there are several things that I have kind of yearned for a reason to help someone else select. They have a dresser that's a very convincing walnut laminate where instead of handles to open it, each end of the drawer front has indented impressions in it that are shaped like those rounded-end shapes in the AT logo. Know what I mean? That series of pieces is very handsome, but it seems like they may be discontinuing it.
And I like some of their vaguely Deco-ish lamps. And yet, they carry that standing lamp with the various-colored glass shade things that was in the "before" of a recent Design on a Dime episode that I saw.
Thanks for the great advice & tips!
Ive shopped in the EQ3 in Ottawa and Toronto. Both stores are amazing, although the one in Ottawa is bigger. There stuff is much nicer than Ikea and reasonably priced. I own a sofa in leather and queen bed from EQ3. I thought the staff was great and the product arrived at my house in great shape. The sofa looks as good as the day I bought it. Their stuff is modern, but not over the top. The Canadian website has prices which I like. I highly reccommend EQ3 for any Ikea graduate. Jim
I have bought several things from the EQ3 in Ottawa also. My only issue is I bought the Saga sofa about 2 years ago and the foam in the seat cushions has totally lost it's density...so you can now feel the bars between each cushion when you don't sit directly in the middle of a cushion. Very disappointed about that, because everything else I have from there is great.
I bought the Bossa bed at the EQ3 store in Charlotte. I love the storage space under the bed - and it was delivered within 3 weeks as quoted.
IMO the customer service was very good - the salesman was very willing to help and describe this product.
I'm from Toronto - excellent store there as well as in Burlington (nearby). Great staff, the product is very cool - not heirloom quality but priced to reflect it - and tons of options. I have the walnut chest someone up top spoke about - it's not been discontinued according the store I spoke to.
Try it - you'll love it.
Hey guys- can't find any information on the NYC location on the Upper West side. EQ3's own website doesn't mention a New York location, and I can't find it on Citysearch either. Can someone get me the address? Would be much appreciated!
Hey KIM!
Ohmigosh..we have the same problem on our sofa as well. We spent a little more and bought the leather version. Now 2 years later, the foam is sinking in and we can feel the bars. We bought our sofa in Burbank so I'm going to see if we can have something done about it. At the time, it felt great and not cheap...BTW, we are asians weighing about 130 lbs. and the foam is still sinking.
