Matt is from Chicago, but needs some local-based opinions:
Hi ATLA, I'm considering buying a chair from a furniture design company in LA called Lawson-Fenning. I've seen a post on them on your blog but was hoping to get some reader feedback on the quality of their pieces. I live in Chicago and can't check out the quality of their craftsmanship, comfort, etc. Their price points are high end but I'd rather not use that as an indicator of their quality. Any feedback you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!

Matt, I've worked for several very high end interior design firms and all of them used LF on a regular basis. I think you're safe. Hope that helps.
Matt, we bought an LF sofa from them about two years back. It's held up quite nicely. One caveat: We had it shipped to Seattle, where we lived at the time, and upon arrival the legs of the sofa were not the same style as what we had asked for.
We probably should have contacted them to try to rectify the situation considering the cost of the piece, but we didn't want to deal with the hassle of shipping it back considering it took a few months to get in the first place (we had ordered in november, a busy season they said, and received it in february or march). So considering you live in Chicago, I would say ask for photos of the finished piece before it is shipped to you, just in case. If you want a picture of how ours has held up, let me know. Good Luck!
i have a chair similar to that pictured and i love it. great service, a very comfortable shape, they let me bring in my own material - i was very pleased. their other stuff looks great, too.
Thanks for the feedback, all of you!
Brandi, any pictures of your piece would be appreciated. We are really interested in the Griffin Chair (similar to pic shown but a little more slope to it) and would probably be using our own material purchased here in Chicago.
Also, great advice on getting them to send pics of the finished product before shipment...never would've thought of that. Didn't even know there WERE leg finish options.
Matt
I have bought several pieces from them and love the look and the quality. They definitely are well-respected and do great work.
I am in LA, however and had the advantage of sitting and testing things out.
Putting aside the fact that quality is so subjective, I can't imagine buying something without getting to sit in it. If your ordering custom, you have no recourse if you don't like it.
