Good Questions: Looking for a Bar Cabinet & Hutch

121808west-elm-bar-hutch.jpgWest Elm used to offer the bar cabinet and hutch shown above: "features in-door storage for bottles, a tempered clear glass shelf, and racks for 24 stemmed glasses, while the cabinet has an open compartment and slots for six wine bottles. West Elm's signature chocolate-finish wood and polished-nickel stand add the final touches." Any idea where i can find something similar? Thanks for your Help!

Got a good question you'd like answered? Send your queries and a photo or two illustrating your question, and we'll see if the ATLA team or our readers can help you out.

Anyone out there know of a similar style for Kristine? Most of the cabinet hutches we've seen are traditional/ornate or more vintage 50's-60's in styling, rather than the West Elm's contemporary offering.

Oh please someone help! I have the same problem and I don't wish to spend a huge amount of money. Maybe $300 at best?

Not a technically a bar, but I bought restoration hardware's bathroom etagere and use it as a bar - http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1421002&navCount=1 -
and it has been completely fabulous. The bottom drawer holds wine bottles and napkins, and I display my glasses and liquor on the shelves. Tip - I bought it at a rh warehouse for $300 even though they are selling it on the site for $800...

Check on the website, there is one in Maryland that is open the second weekend of every month (way way better than the outlet...).

I don't think even the West Elm piece, when they carried it, could have been had for $300...

Crate & Barrel currently has several credenza-like pieces with fittings for bar and stemware and wine bottles, but they are definitely lower profile.

There is a Martha Stewart furniture piece with these same general proportions... for Bernhardt, I think??

Would the acacia mini bar from CB2 work? http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=118&f=4665

It isn't as tall, but it is quite similar in style and features and only costs $399 (and they've got free shipping right now).

Ooh! Edgewood, right on the way to my parent's house--that could prove dangerous. :) Thanks for the tip.

I don't want to detract from the original question, I don't know what their price range is--probably a lot higher than mine! :)

For the $300 and under range - You're best off sticking to Craigslist and yardsales.

I've been looking for something similar... only in my case the budget only allows for about $100- $150. I've got to have some money left over to actually stock the bar!

Ikea sells racks for hanging stemware. I thought I could repurpose a peice of furniture by installing racks inside, and maybe save money that way.

Studio Starter:
I wonder if taking a Billy bookcase, putting some doors on it whether the clear ones, the etched decorative ones or solid ones, and inserting the racks you mention might serve good. You might even be able to put some feet on it, so it doesn't look like a typical bookcase. That has me thinking now, about the possibilities of Ikea. My only concern is how well the material of the Billy, for instance, would hold up to so many holes.

Looks like I have a holiday project! Bet it would cost about 150$, if not less--because the tall Billy bookcase is $90 plus some racks and legs at about $30-40!

:)

If anyone is considering Restoration Hardware, they have a 20% off until December 24th coupon available, which (depending on where you are) basically covers tax and then takes 10% off the price, but everything helps.
