Good Questions Pool renovation?

top.jpgAn e-mail from Matthew:

Hello AT,
I know this is perhaps outside of the realm of apartment living but as this is LA, I was hoping somebody could offer advice. We have a great Anthony Pool in the backyard, built in the sixties. Unfortunately, previous owners let it slide into disrepair. Do you know of a great pool renovator or pool restoration company or even just a good pool remodel company?

(Note: Include a pic of your problem and your question gets posted first.)

We're throwing this to all you AT:LA readers- Can any pool owners out there offer any advice?

I can't recommend a resurfacing company. I can tell you that we are beginning to see the use of Pebbletech in pools more & more in northern california. It gives pools a natural, almost black bottom look to them. If replastering becomes too costly, you may want to ask your contractor about it.

We have also recently added a glass mosaic tile to our online collection. We have some great shots of the tile used in several pools, including a few all over aplications. They look pretty stunning.

Cheers,
Nuno

We had our 1969 Anthony's pool re-tiled and re-plastered just last month. The first contractor we hired did not work out (the sub-contractor sub-sub-contracted without anyone's knowledge, and they smashed both of our cars to pieces with their truck!). We hired M. Preciado Pools to finish the job, and they were reasonably priced, very professional, and I would recommend them. They're on the web at www.pebblepoolfinish.com. We did a "French grey" plaster, with 1" blue tile, and it's gorgeous. Good luck!

You rock, Kristen. That is exactly the kind of information I was hoping for.

Thanks again,
