Good Questions: Cushion Replacements?
Los Angeles

021009atlagoodquest1-01.jpgDear Apartment Therapy, where can I find foam cushions to replace the ones I threw out for my chairs? I just need to find replacement cushions, as the fabric covers are fine. Any recommendations from local Los Angeles dealers or online services for cushion replacement? Thanks for any tips! T.

There's a couple local businesses that might be able to help you revive your seating with some new foam cushioning to fit your seat cushion covers. There is Diamond Foam & Fabric on La Brea who gets excellent reviews online and also Foam 'n Fabric in Bellflower (they'll even come out all the way out to Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, and San Diego for major jobs). Any other recommendations locally or online, readers?

I had been looking for replacement cushions as well and used Norm's Foam & Fabric Center on Motor over the weekend. I am very pleased with the new cushions for my old 3 cushion sofa.

This is an IKEA chair called LILLBERG. When you buy it, you buy the cushions seperatly. You can just go to an IKEA and by them for $40 (this is a set for a chair). This way you'll get the perfect fit.

Almost any big fabric store will cut foam rubber to order.

Also, in the future, I'd recommend not tossing the old foam out until you have the new ones in hand for they can be used to determine the thickness and size you need.

Just an FYI.

I'd check out foamorder.com for situations when you can't just go back to IKEA for replacement cushions.

Los Angeles has a whole section of town devoted to the garment and fabric industry. Perhaps one of the quaint little shops there might be able to fulfill this not very unusual request. But, why do that when some artisan on Etsy could hand make cushions out of very special, hand-whipped foam?

I like foamorder.com a lot and have ordered custom cushions, bolsters, and mattresses several times over the years. I've been completely satisfied with the quality, customer service, and selection.

FOAM MART INC.
628 North Victory Blvd., Burbank, CA 91502.
STORE: 1-800-943-8362
FAX: 323 849-4245

I love this store.
The staff is very knowledgable, friendly and honest. Their prices are good, and since it's local, there are no shipping charges. It's a go-to place for many Industry set designers, costumers, special effect experts, etc.
Good luck!
