Hello AT,
This being bathroom month and all... I just finished spring cleaning my apartment, and my shower is all sparkly and fresh.
I'd like to keep it that way by using a daily shower spray, but the commerical ones are too chemical-ly for my tastes. I like method's version , but I'd love to make my own at home. got any recipes?
Thanks,
Abby (er, Sparky)
Hey Ab--Sparky... we found a few things of interest on a this website. The first was a SQUEEGY after every shower will help in keeping away the mold, and leave your walls shiney and clean. Below is a Natural Cleaner Recipe:
Fill your spray bottle almost full with HOT water, then add:
* 1 teaspoon borax
* 1 teaspoon washing soda
* 1 tablespoon liquid Castile soap (Dr. Bronners)
* 1/2 cup vinegar (kills mold/mildew)
Shake well before using.
(If you put the other ingredients in before the water it will foam up a lot when you add the water.)
I fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water and add a few drops of essential oil (peppermint or lavender). After I shower, I spray this all over the tile and tub, let is sit for a few minutes, then squeegee the tile walls. Works great.
so, anybody know what is in the kind that you don't have to squeegee?
I've been using the commercial stuff since we regrouted, and it works great, but I'd like to do a homebrew...
We got one of the showering bubble things that you click and it sprays after your shower. We would like a less chemically more cost effective replacement for the cleanser that came with it.
We are interested in finding a recipe for something you can just spray and leave that will keep the shower nice and shiny.
I used to have a recipe for spray only shower cleaner that used dishwasher rinse aid as one of the ingredients. Does anyone have that recipe? In the meantime I am experimenting with the vinegar/water as well as the washing soda/borax mix.
Thanks!
3 TBS JetDry mixed with water in a spray bottle -- an old cleaned out Tilex spray bottle is a nice touch. Use after each shower.
Is the JetDry liquid or powder?
