Dear Apartment Therapy, I would really appreciate your help. I’m trying to track down the blanket seen on the chair in the image above. This image was part of your [Small Cool] contest. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much. -Alisa

i think i saw it at Ikea, but it could have been my grandma's house... i tend to get those mixed up.

Ikea. They even have a rug to match.

It's from Ikea (believe it or not!) I loved it and bought one because it reminded me of the ones my grandma would make by hand.

Personally, I'm interested in the 10th book from the left on the 4th row, 2nd column. What book is that? And do they have it at IKEA?

The Blanket is the Ikea Unni Virka, not sure that they still sell it, it's no longer on the website but may be in store.

Yes definitely Ikea - they don't sell it anymore as far as I know. But someone is selling it on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/IKEA-UNNI-VIRKA-Crochet-Afghan-Throw-BLANKET-Stripes_W0QQitemZ200329146136QQcategoryZ20549QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWINQ3aPOST0Q3aRECOQ3aBINQQcmdZViewItem

I would suggest making one, if you have the time. You'll appreciate it much more than the Ikea version if you put all the work into it yourself. Though, I'm a crochet freak, so I may be biased. :)

ItsJustStuff, thank you! :D
Why get something like that from Ikea? Like safarikate, I'd recommend self-made one. If you are not able to make it yourself, maybe you have friends or relatives who could? Personally, I'd gladly make blankets for my loved ones if they asked and provided the yarn. But are they interested? Not really... Yes, I'm a crochet freak, too. :)

I have that blanket. It's from Ikea, around 2000-2003.

I'm sure if you or someone close to you knew how to crochet and had an extra 60 hours to spend making a throw blanket, a self-made one would be a good option, but I personally don't. Etsy has some really cute ones, but of course most of them are a lot more expensive than the Ikea throw. I thought this one was close to the Ikea style and affordable, but it's a little smaller and square. It's very cute, and homemade:

If you know anyone who knits or crochets ask them if they would make it for you. If it's a yes then ask if you can go with them to the yarn store. They will love you forever.

as others have said it's from ikea - and when i was there about a month ago they still had it - on sale too.

agree about making your own. Crochet is very easy--I taught myself with books/dvd from the library. I wanted to get rid of a bunch of wool tapestry yarn I'd collected from yard sales that took up a lot of space in the closet. Now I have a ridiculously warm throw.
