Good Questions: Sexy modern bedframe with storage?

preview_item_pic_20.gifAn e-mail from Jimmy: I am 30 and am trying to transition my place from college/late-twenties-party pad to contemporary, modern, classy pad. I want it to be very SEXY! I'm buying a Tempur-Pedic king sized mattress and I've been looking for the perfect low profile frame to sit it in.
I want something that has hidden compartments/drawers. Some very dim lighting built it would be cool but is not mandatory. I want my place to be cool and not cheesy. Can you help?

Hey Jimmy, we came across this piece that will keep your pad swank and stylish. We love the dark wood, architectural, clean-lines of this platform bed ($595 for the queen, but King size is available) from Plummers. We also like the small cubby detail in the headboard.

C'mon you sexy AT:LA readers, I'm sure some of you have other suggestions too- can you help our bachelor Jimmy out?

This is a nice one from West Elm. I'm guessing if you're just out of college you may be on a bit of a budget. This one's only $299 for a king. It doesn't have the storage you seek, but I have a similar bed and I just slide sleek, modern baskets underneath my bed for storage.

Blu Dot Modulicious Bed.

I've been on this very quest for about three years. I have a small bedroom and a house with only two closets in the whole place, so everything has to do double-duty as storage.

I found one bed from Hold Everything, but they went out of business. Last weekend I found a terrific bed -- though both too big for my needs -- at H.D. Buttercup in Culver City. One was a low-slung platform bed with a rim of 8 inch-square timbers, that it turns out were drawers that were 8" deep. No way would it fit in my house, but it was really dramatic.
