How about the Petrie sofa at CB?

Crate and barrel Pietre sofa is the same style and at a great price. We have the sofa and chair and love it!!! Can't wait to have it reupholstered in the years to come!

I also have a tufted sofa by Gus ... in fact, I've had two. If it is a high use sofa you might want to avoid something with button tufting and opt for blind tufting instead. At least be careful with the Gus Modern Rochelle sofa... I eventually had to trade mine in because I kept losing so many buttons. It is a shame since that sofa is really great looking. I now have the Clinton and I it is working really well for me. The style is a bit different but I think it works better all around.

I have the Petrie sofa. Almost a year now and it still looks brand new. I tend to sleep on it a lot and I just switch the cushions around, flip them over and fluff them back up.

I used to have that exact sofa! It's Crate & Barrel from like 6 years ago - I think the Petrie is the closest to it now. I liked the way it looked, but the buttons were not comfortable to sit on and after awhile they started coming off. I would think about one with tufted back cushions and plain seat cushions.

That looks just like my chocolate brown Crate & Barrel couch. Tequila Red is totally right. The buttons are awful. They're just not sewn on tightly enough and can be very uncomfortable. But visually, it's a lovely couch. We have one in cream at my office.

The sofa in the photo is too sloppy. The sofas in the Bombast line is all custom made. With the best materials and North American made, not made in China, made to last a very long time.

try the sofa company in pasadena or venice/santa monica...they make custom sofas...choose one of their many models and alter it to your specifications. you choose fabric, size, feet, # of cushions, tufting, etc. it takes about 4-6 weeks for manufacturing/delivery, etc.

Anyone know sources for tufted sofas in London??

so... I was dieing for a tufted sofa for my new place. unfortunately all the really awesome ones I was looking at were WAY, WAY, WAY out of my price range. so, I got frustrated...

and then I called MOM!!! she took me to all the Mom places, including Macy's Furniture Outlet. There we found the perfect tufted couch and matching chair. It has only one row of buttons, but other than that it was perfect. I think it came in 3 or 4 colors, but we picked chocolate brown. PERFECT

And the best part, it was about 1/3 of what I was planning to spend. I think it came out to $1200 and I signed up for a Macy's card, saving something like 10%!

As for now, the couch is holding up wonderfully. And we are always hopping, slouching, plopping, etc. on it.

We gave our GUS sofa to my sisiter in law as it was falling apart after only a year-we bought a G.ROMANO sofa(not the Grace) which is made in Montreal, equally stylish, same price range and got to choose our own fabric.

I've heard some negative comments about the Gus* sofas. We have Rochelle - so far so good, but I get very nervous around those damndable buttons!

How easy it is to repair button tufting? The Rochelle has a cushion, so presumeably you could just take that to an upholsterer -

But what about the back - I'd hate to lug a couch out of my house. Do upholsterers make house calls for such repairs?

In reference to the Macy's "Corona" sofa, if you can catch it on sale it is only 699.00. I have seen it on sale every couple months or so.

I love the Grace, but the Macy's looks like a great option for the $$.

Another tufted sofa from Macy's is the Chloe (I have it in granite). Bought it on sale back in April. Besides the tufted back, the sloped-arms totally reeled me. :)

oops, sorry 'bout that. I saw the word "tufted" and just went into one-track mind mode. You were looking for something with straight arms.

Not sure about your price range, but BoConcept has a lot of great modern design sofas that come in a variety of colors. I found the sofa below and while it still has that tufted look on the cushions, the back of it is a little more updated to make the perfect modern design sofa!

Actually, I was just at Macy's testing out couches yesterday (I do this for fun, hee) and the Ava and Chloe are really comfy. I love the look of the Corona, but it's a little stiff for me. Macy's has very affordable & attractive options, and the sofas are almost always on sale. They weren't yesterday, but the salesman said they would be back on sale today.

C&B's Petrie sofa looks closest to the OP's pic (I assumed that's what it was). It is really attractive, but I found it disappointing to sit on. The back and seat cushions were too thin; it's just not very comfortable.

I have an older Crate and Barrel sofa I bought off of craigslist. Not a Petrie, but looks to be the exact same color/fabric as the Petrie? sofa in family photo. My sofa is button tufted in the back cushions (4 both sides) and the single seat (8 both sides). One of my cats tries very hard to take them off, but they haven't so far! Note the fabric has not withstood her attempts though!

Why is everyone talking about $1000 sofas. There are better options out there. I am pretty sure that when it comes to cars everyone would want to drive BMW, Benz, Porsche, Lexus and not Kia, Mazda...........Customers don't want to spend $3K-$6K for a sofa that they will keep for 10-30 years, but they don't mind buying a $60K car that they will drive for 4 years.

The Dexter sofa by Mitchell Gold is awesome! I have one myself in Pecan and I absolutely love it's retro feel! Plus, Mitchell Gold lets you choose your own fabric AND you can choose the wood finish of your sofa legs (which is a free option)!

Funnily enough, Kathy Ireland's furniture line does one of these.

Not sure if you'll see this as I'm posting it so late ...
We had the Rochelle and popped so many buttons. The dealer was really fantastic about sending out furniture repair people each time it happened. After a year, and many popped buttons, they offered for us to return it for another model.

Check with your dealer first to see if they will provide this service (in case of popped buttons). The seat was the only problem for us but we did have one back button pop off towards the end. Furniture repair people DO make house calls, though I have no idea what the price is as our dealer always arranged and paid for these visits.
