Good Questions: Where Do I Find These Clothespin Circles?
Los Angeles

050809readerquestatla.jpgI think it was this past holiday season that I saw a lovely behind the counter display at the Santa Monica Anthropologie with clothespins glued into circles and painted bright colors. I never took a picture of that, but saw this in the jewelry display recently and finally remembered to snap a photo. I've done several searches on wooden clothespins but can't find anything that quite looks like these. Anyone out there no where I can find these particular ones? Thanks! Eurie

Eurie, the display and design team at Anthropologie do flat out remarkable jobs putting together displays that sometime outshine the wares they're sold next to. So we're pretty sure these clothespin designs were simply made in-house and not a purchased product. They seem very simple to make despite their intricate design; remove the metal wire spring, glue two wooden pieces back to back, allow to dry, then glue 24 pieces together with a hot glue gun. These would also make for lovely Christmas ornaments when painted.

Target, Wal-mart? Sometimes Michaels Crafts... I only think of this because I used to do a Crafts Class with kids. And you would have to remove the metal spring mechanism. Cute project. Wondering what you were going to do with them?

Yup, those are definitely just regular clothespins. Just take them apart and glue the flat backs together and voila! Fancy looking clothespin-like thing!

You can find them at a drugstore: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100760&navAction=jump&navCount=0&id=prod3471416

Or Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. Probably can find them at the 99 Cent Store too.

Yes- regular wooden clothes pins. Try a small mom-and-pop hardware store. Places like Wal-mart might be more likely to carry plastic versions.

They're regular wooden clothespins with the metal spring removed, then the two pieces glued back to back. (Open yer eyes!)

At a lot of craft stores like Michaels you can get a bag of just the wooden parts of clothes pins.

You can find it EVERYWHERE in Portugal, and this is the kind of craftwork we did when we were children in 4th grade...This post made me smile and remember old times...
