Hi Emily, Congratulations on your new space! Our first inclination for window treatments in this space would be to use some sort of shade. Smith&Noble offers a shade called "Illusions Shadings". It's basically a 3-in-1 type of shade, offering the light control of a blind, but also the diffusion of a sheer, and also the "elegance of delicate fabric."

The first choice to consider is no treatments at all. Do these windows NEED some cover for shade or privacy or whatever? If not then you are putting up some confection of fabric and whatknots just to tart up the window and serve not real function.
I'd go for custom-sized commercial-grade metal blinds. In white. They'll last forever. And go with everything.
It really depends on what kind of TV you have. If it's LCD, any blinds will do. But Plasma will probably require something more substantial as the surface is shiny and their might be glare. If you are using a projector, curtains will be a must.
I purchased some heavy curtains for my living room because along with that light came some pretty strong heat in the summertime, making the floor hot, and causing me to use more electricity.
They were expensive, but well worth the privacy I got and utility savings.
If privacy isn't an issue, I'd opt for no window treatments. But if you decide to go with window treatments, I like the look and functionality of roman shades with a top-down/bottom-up upgrade. (That's what I've got at my first-floor place, where privacy is my main issue.)
