Q: I wonder if anyone has seen a headboard around that looks similar to the one in Across the Universe. I am in love with it right now and wonder if maybe it's an actual, manufactured headboard or if it was custom? Since it was probably custom, does anyone know of anything very close to it? The two pictures I included below are pretty much the only two shots in the film, so it's the best I can do...

Editor - We haven't seen the movie, but the fan-style headboard is pretty dramatic. Recently over at AT Boston, a post showed how a large decorative fan over the bed can be used to create a faux headboard. Though not the same as the headboard in decorative Asian fan, this type of solution may be more affordable.
Anyone else have a resource they can share with Shannon so she doesn't have to search across the universe for her dream headboard?

The headboard's dimensions look about the same as some of the super-big, custom hula hoops that have been popular the last couple years. With a couple reels of black grosgrain ribbon and some googling to hooping sites you could probably make yourself something similar.

Firstly, Love the movie!!! The headboard reminds me of a Plantation Sunburst Shutter. They come in tons of sizes and even faux ones that may be a good head start. It would be a pretty fun DIY!!!
