022708kriscolor.jpg

AT:LA reader Eve sent us this question:

A while back (maybe over a year ago even...) on AT:LA, you guys had a posting on a blog where this girl created nothing but color palettes from everything - I think you had a photo of a landscape which she had made a palette from - I am trying to find it again and having been searching through your site but could not find it! please help! It is haunting me...

Hi Eva, the post I think you're referring to was one we did last November, and we highlighted Kris's Color Stripes website. Kris, who lives in Itally, creates beautiful color palettes from things she sees in her daily life. It's a great reminder that the best inspiration and ideas come by just opening your eyes and looking at what's around you. Check out all her "color stripes" at her website here.

try this one: http://www.degraeve.com/color-palette/

it chooses the main colours from any image, and gives you both a dull and a vibrant palette.

btw, these were my own results: http://maybemaven.blogspot.com/2007/04/gathering-colour-and-pattern.html

There's also this color palette generator: http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/colors.php

Seems like a popular thing these days.

Try colourlovers. I think Pantone has a section on colour palettes as well.
