Hi Amy, in our bathroom, we also have a nice sized window. We decided to use a frosted window cling that lets in nice diffused light. There are many types available and you can find some easily at your local hardware store. The only thing we don't like is when we open the window, we lose the privacy that a curtain would provide. We originally had a half curtain, but we liked the clean look of the frosted film when we removed the curtain (which actually made the space feel bigger.) It was also less hassle to clean. Does anyone have any other suggestions, ideas, recommendations? Those of you that have a larger window, what do you use?

I agree with the frosting, it seems to yield the cleanest, most elegant look in a bathroom. You didn't mention any interest in blinds, but I thought I should mention that any window coverings you get for a damp room such as a bathroom you have to be careful about all the moisture. Wood blinds, would be a terrible idea and more than likely would warp quickly. So for anything you desire that has a wood look in your bathroom, make sure you opt for some sort of faux wood product.

Our window is in our shower so we use both frosted contact paper and a lightweight curtain. The frosted contact paper would be great by itself, but we have no other ventilation and often open the window and need the curtain to maintain privacy. I launder the curtain fairly often to fight any possible mildew problems.

I saw a previous post about the window films and looked for some less expensive ones for my own shower window (which has previously had a shower curtain over the wall). Now granted, these are not as stylish, but there are several plain frosted options.

I use these everywhere in my apartment. They are a bit pricey but I love it and it makes me smile. There was a post about them about 6 months ago...very pretty.

Take a piece of sheer fabric (with a texture, maybe) that is the size of your window, hem on all sides and create a pocket at top and at the bottom. thread two small wooden dowels through the pockets and hang with a hook and eye from the top dowel. The idea is to have a nice pretty sheer that runs only the size of the window... then you can open the window and still maintain privacy.
something about film makes me think the windows always look dirty...

A friend did a curtain out of a cut-down shower curtain on a tension rod.

That's what we've done--a cut out of a top corner of a shower curtain on a tension rod.
But the curtain is grimey and the tension rod is now rusted and I'm looking to upgrade. Thanks to all the commenters for the good ideas in here.
